Re: Cannot delete hcdata
Hi, HELPCTR folder is associated Windows ME/XP Help and support Center. I suppose the file you mentioned was "HCData.edb" (Windows XP). You might have tried to delete the file while the Windows Help system was running resulting in 'access violation' in Windows XP. Close all instances of Windows Help...

First of all, please check AIM or the news-group reader for any improper settings. If everything is in order there, try the following. A...

Re : less free space after emptying trashcan
Hi, Can you be a bit more specific please ? Also, try turning off "System Restore" feature in WinME and WinXP. These features create periodic backups of files which are deleted or changed thereby taking up your harddisk space. Wipe free space: If, by any chance, Ace Utilities crashes, it cannot clea...

Reg Compactor
Hi,
Yes Jazz, the result of registry compaction in Win98/ME is almost same as the scanreg/opt or scanreg/fix. We can only guess about the Microsoft codes.
Yeh, the space and slack are removed while compacting Registry for all Windows versions.

Aneesh
