Illegal Operation Message

When I try to use empty the recycle bin through Ace Utilities, I receive a message saying that an error was encoutered and the program woul;d be shut down. I'm using win98 and have Mcafee and Sygate running. I tried reinstalling Ace, but to no sucess.
