Sever 2008

Post by csleech » Thu Jan 14, 2010 3:53 pm

I know that server 2008 is not listed as a supported OS on the product page but I'm attempting to use Ace Utils on it anyway (mostly because I love the product).

I am having an issue when running 5.1 on sever 2008 x86. I launch the application and click on any of the tools (for example Remove Junk Files or Fix Invalid Shortcut) and the CPU usage just skyrockets. All I have done is clicked the option and not actually started the scan... Is this something that has been reported or is there a known issue for it?

Hello csleech,

There was such an issue where processor usage spikes when launching certain sub-utilities. Did you follow through with the solution mentioned in a similar thread you created a few months ago?

Hi Aneesh,

That seems to have fixed it. I didn't follow that link because I thought the main installer on the product download page would have been updated. I did download from the link in the other topic and installed it. It worked after doing that.

Are you waiting for another release to update the main installer on the home page? I ask because I recommend your product to a lot of the customers I deal with and would hate for them to get it and experiance the CPU issue since there is a fix.

God Bless,
csleech

At present only the 'complete installer package' addresses this issue. The separate 32 and 64-bit installers are one build behind the full installer. Updates have been delayed due to some technical issues. They will soon be updated to the latest. :-\
