Tweak 'n Tune

Post by JWC1234 » Sun Jun 17, 2007 10:11 am

I used Tweak 'n Tune to alter some Windows settings and when I rebooted, my laptop was veeery slow, wouldn't run any applications, and eventually crashed. Several more reboots got the same result. I have a Dell laptop running Windows XP, and I suspect the option in TnT to enable large system cache is the culprit. Since I can't get the computer to run an application, I can't used TnT to restore the original setting. What can I do to restore whatever got changed by the Use Large System Cache option? I use my laptop extensively every day, so it being disabled is a huge issue for me. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Click 'Start', click 'Run', and then type sysdm.cpl to open the 'System Properties'.
Click the 'Advanced' tab, and then click 'Settings' under 'Performance'.
Click the 'Advanced' tab, and then under 'Memory usage':
Click 'Adjust for performance of: Programs'. Click 'ok' and reboot if prompted.

OR

Click 'Start', click 'Run', and then type regedit.exe in the Open box.
Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management registry subkey.
Double-click LargeSystemCache, set it to 0, then click 'Ok'.
Close the registry editor and restart the computer.
